Identifying
manufacturer's code and your serial number
Before
1976, the vehicle’s serial number was placed under the seat of the
driver, on the fender skirt, however it is still difficult for you to
determine the exact manufacturing year with this number. After 1976,
and until 1993, the serial number used to be beneath the passenger
side dash board. To determine the manufacturing year of these carts,
you can check the manufacture’s code specified in no definite
order. Some examples from three actual carts include: 79J01-188254,
78O516-155671 and 79A12-161603.
Since
1994 and till date, the manufacturer's code is placed on the plate
inside the glove box on the passenger side. The Manufacturer's Code
display starts with a letter and the last 2 digits are the year. An
example is: J0196 is a 1996.

Some

From
1971 to 1975, E-Z-GO employed a 175cc 2-cycle 17-CES 1PG Robin engine
having four head bolts. The engine with an internal starter generator
was painted in blue. In 1976 they evolved with the model EC25-DS 244c
Robin engine made by Fugi Heavy Industries. This black painted engine
had six head bolts. It still had an internal generator/ starter that
were kept until the mid 1980. In mid 1980 they emerged with a Hitachi
brand external generator/ starter with some changes to the clutch and
engine. The model EC25-2PG engine was bring into use until the year
1988. However, in 1981 they came evolved with the electronic
ignition. 1983 was a single year model simply recognized by having
the muffler reclining down behind the engine rather than standing up.
In 1984 they prefer going back to the stand up muffler close to the
driver’s side of the cart.
